Men’s Soccer Suffers Tough Road Loss To UW-Superior

SUPERIOR, WIS. – The University of Northwestern men's soccer team fell short to the University of Wisconsin-Superior, 3-0, on the road Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Eagles drop to 7-4-2 on the season and 6-2-1 in UMAC play.

The first 45-minute frame was well contested, as both teams battled back and forth to find the net. The Yellowjackets came out on top [1-0] at the halftime break, as they knocked in a lone goal at the 36' mark.

Trailing after the opening period, UNW struggled to get their offense going, as UWS's defensive line stayed resilient in not letting any goals pass through. On the half, the Yellowjackets went on to add two more tallies to the scoreboard, which was enough to help seal a 3-0 win on the afternoon competition.

Concluding the contest, UW-Superior outshot Northwestern, 20-4.

Defending the cage the entire 90 minutes, Goalkeeper Turner Main (Kewaunee, Wis./Kewaunee) caught an impressive seven saves on the mid-day match.

The purple and gold will return home for a non-conference contest against Concordia-Moorhead on Thursday, October 19. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Fans unable to attend can catch the live action at www.unweagles.com.
