Donat's Hat Trick Fuels Win Over Cougars

ST. PAUL, MINN. – In Wednesday's matchup against the University of Minnesota Morris (6-7-1, 4-3-1 UMAC), the University of Northwestern men's soccer team clinched a 4-0 victory over the visiting Cougars to stay second in conference. With the win, the Eagles advance to 7-3-2 on the season and jump to 6-1-1 in league play.
 
UNW wasted no time in getting things started, as Josiah Donat (Elk River, Minn./Washtenaw Christian Academy) gave the Eagles an early 1-0 lead, scoring off of a corner kick from Taylor Modaff (Monticello, Minn./Monticello).

Donat's dominant offensive efforts continued, as the senior forward buried two more goals on the half, extending Northwestern's lead 3-0 by the intermission break. Teammates Bryan Sanchez (El Paso, Tex./Franklin) and Joshua Hintz (New Brighton, Minn./Mounds View) helped out in the action, as they each collected an assist. 
 
On the half, the Eagles fired off an impressive 12 shots [8 SOG], which outshined the Cougars seven shots [4 SOG].
 
At the 55' window, Modaff scored the teams final goal of the night, as he knocked in a header shot to help the Eagles secure a 4-0 win over the visiting team. Modaff's goal as assisted by Hintz, respectively. 
 
Concluding the evening contest, Northwestern totaled 22 shots [12 SOG], outperforming Morris' 16 shots [8 SOG].
 
The game leaders on the night's competition were Donat [5S / 3 SOG / 3G], Modaff [4S / 2 SOG / 1G / 1A], and Hintz [4S / 1 SOG / 2A].
