ST. BONIFACIUS, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team won 81-44 over Crown College with an outstanding team performance Friday evening. With the win, the Eagles advance to 7-5 on the season and 4-1 in UMAC play.
UNW wasted no time getting on the board, as the team pushed a 29-8 lead in the first quarter. Throughout the next 10:00 minutes, the Eagles managed to outshoot the Storm 16-9 to stretch a 45-17 lead heading into halftime.
Taking on the third quarter, Northwestern once again shut down the home team as they added another 21 points to the scoreboard – boosting the score 66-30 in the Eagles favor.
To conclude the final period of the contest, UNW's strong offensive efforts helped secure an 81-44 victory over CC.
Northwestern capped off the night by shooting 50.0% from the field, while Crown finished by shooting 28.8% from the floor. As a team, the Eagles also grabbed 38 rebounds (13 OFF & 25 DEF), tallied 11 assists, and snatched nine steals to complete the contest.
Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) had a remarkable contribution on the game as she led the pack with 20 points – going 8-12 from the field – while also noting six steals, five rebounds, and two assists.
Tiffany Stubbs (Ames, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) also shined throughout the 40:00 minutes of play, as she closed with 16 points for the Eagles. Stubbs sank all five free throw attempts, went 4-12 from the floor, 3-10 from behind the arch, and added five rebounds, two blocks, and one assist. Respectively,
Abby Peterson (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) (11 points) and
Jazinae Patterson (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) (10 points) also finished off the match in double digits.
