MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team fell to the conference-leading (tied with UW-Superior) Minnesota Morris Cougars Saturday, 75-49, in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action. UNW falls to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in league play, while host UMM betters its record to 9-4 and 6-0 in loop contests.
The Cougars got off to a fast start and never looked back, holding a 43-28 lead at the half before staying unbeaten with a strong second half.
Tiffany Stubbs (Ames, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) had the hot hand, as the senior cashed in on five treys en route to finishing with a game-high 20 points. She also pulled down five rebounds and swiped three steals.
Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) also finished in double figures, contributing 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting.
UNW shot 29 percent (18-of-62) from the floor and ended the night hitting 39.8 percent (7-of-18) from long range.
