ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team shot 52.7 percent from the floor and 41.7 percent from long range en route to picking up a 76-65 win over North Central University (3-14, 1-10) Saturday afternoon inside the Ericksen Center. The Eagles better their season mark to 12-7 overall and 8-3 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
Northwestern used a balanced attack from start to finish, including a strong third quarter effort in which they outscored North Central 18-8.
Taryn Tumbleson (Sherburn, Minn./Martin County West) had a strong outing, as the sophomore led a trio of Eagles in double figures with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting. She was equally as impressive on the defensive end, swiping a pair of steals and swatting two shots.
Abby Peterson (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) continued to make her presence felt, finishing a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor to finish with 14 points.
Andrea Zimpel (Isle, Minn./Isle) was also stellar, as the junior finished 3-for-3 from downtown and a 2-for-2 at the line to contribute 11 points.
