Eagles Finish Weekend Perfect; Wilmeth Notches 300th Career Win

MORRIS, Minn. - The No. 25 University of Northwestern volleyball team picked up two more wins Saturday to cap off a perfect weekend at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Preview Tournament. The two victories also elevated Head Coach Beth Wilmeth's career win total to 300. UNW now sits at 11-2 on the season after defeating the University of Wisconsin-Superior and Martin Luther College.

Match One vs. UW-Superior (25-3, 25-13, 25-10)
The Eagles dominated Saturday's opener, surrendering a total of just 26 points to the Yellowjackets. UNW tallied 17 aces, while also holding a 6-1 advantage in blocks and compiling a .362 hitting percentage.

Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) posted a double-double with her 10 kills and 13 digs, while Abby Vander Galien (Chanhassen, Minn./Southwest Christian) shined in the back row, racking up a match-high 14 digs. Vander Galien also posted seven service aces in the match.

Match Two vs. Martin Luther (25-19, 25-13, 25-14)
Northwestern carried its momentum from its first match into the weekend finale, as the Eagles cruised to a sweep of MLC.

UNW hit .267, while holding the Knights to a .074 hitting percentage. The Eagles also notched seven aces and 43 kills.

Peterson (12) and Shanay Gonder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) (11) put up double-digit kill totals to lead the offensive attack. Kaelyn Kilbo (Delano, Minn./Delano) contributed 33 assists, while Vander Galien added 13 digs to her already impressive resume.

The Eagles will be off until next Friday when they travel to Bethel University for a Snelling Showdown with the Royals. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Robertson Center. More information can be found at www.unweagles.com.
