DULUTH, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's soccer team contended against St. Scholastica, an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) rival, on Saturday afternoon. In their stride towards a victory, the Eagles fell short in a 3-0 defeat against the Saints.
Opening up the first period, both teams took the field ready for action. As UNW and CSS fought an evenly-matched battle, the scoreboard remained 0-0 leading into halftime.
Storming the field with high spirits and determined attitudes, the Eagles were on the lookout to net a goal heading into the second period of play.Thought St. Scholastica brought the heat, Northwestern defense proceeded to stand their ground.
The score went unchanged (0-0) up until the last 20:00 minutes, as the Saints were then able to break down the Eagles defense to net three unanswered goals on the mid-day contest. In doing so, CSS clinced the 3-0 win over UNW.
Northwestern capped off the match with 11S and 4SOG, as St. Scholastica earned 16S and 7SOG.

Matthew McCann (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) also put forth great efforts as they each closed with 1S, and
Taylor Modaff (Monticello, Minn./Monticello) with 1S and 1SOG.
The team will travel to Augsburg College for their next competition on Monday, September 19
