ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The University of Northwestern (5-11) baseball team dropped a non-conference tilt against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) preseason favorite Bethel University (9-7), 13-1, Tuesday afternoon at Hargis Park.
The host Royals put seven runs on the board in the opening frame and never looked back.
The Eagles' lone run came on a
Tyler Osborn (Clive, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) sacrifice fly that scored
Nathan Ehnstrom (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) in the top of the sixth.
Braxton Lindow (Cannon Falls, Minn./Cannon Falls) turned in a multi-hit performance at the dish, as he finished 2-for-4. Freshman
Bradley Spencer (Papillion, NE/Papillion South) had UNW's third hit.
Erik Nyquist (Elk River, Minn./Pine Island) was a bright spot for the Eagles, as he came out of the pen to toss four innings of shutout ball. The sophomore allowed just two hits. Jake Franzen got the nod on the bump and
Benjamin Jenney (Albertville, Minn./Maranatha Christian) logged four innings of relief work on the afternoon.
The Eagles will return to Reynolds Field to host Augsburg College in a doubleheader Wednesday. First pitch in game one is set for 5 p.m. Links for live video and live stats can be found at
