MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team made it five-straight wins with a 74-59 triumph at North Central University (5-15, 1-11) Saturday evening. The Eagles better their season record to 17-4 and run their conference record to 11-1.
The Eagles set the tone early, striking for 22 points in the opening frame. UNW followed that up with a 20-point second quarter to take a 42-27 lead into intermission. The Eagles kept their foot on the gas, securing a 74-59 win to maintain a second-place spot in the league standings.
Four players scored in double-digits for UNW, as
Jessica Cole (Altoona, Iowa/Southeast Polk) and
Kim Campbell (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) paced the way with 14 points apiece.
Regan Cooper (Pella, Iowa/Pella) contributed 12 points, while
Taryn Tumbleson (Sherburn, Minn./Martin County West) chipped in 10 points off the bench. Campbell also dished out four assists.
Northwestern finished the night shooting 50 percent from the floor, while holding North Central to a 33.9 shooting percentage.
The Eagles will return home next weekend to host their final regular season contests of the season, as Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther will visit the Ericksen Center. Fans can find more information at
