Fourth Quarter Push Propels UNW Past MLC on Senior Night

ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team outscored Martin Luther College (11-11, 6-7) 19-12 in the fourth quarter Friday to secure a 60-55 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) victory on Senior Night inside the Ericksen Center. The Eagles improve to 18-4 overall and 12-1 in loop play.

UNW honored its three seniors (Kim Campbell (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy), Courtney Cunard (Missouri Valley, Iowa/Missouri Valley) and Regan Cooper (Pella, Iowa/Pella)) prior to tip.

The Eagles trailed at the end of the first three quarters, but made a fourth-quarter push to pick up the win. After an evenly played first half, in which UNW trailed 24-23 heading into the locker room, the Eagles outscored their opponents 37-31 in the final two quarters to pick up the win.

Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) and Campbell finished with 13 points apiece to lead all scorers. Campbell cashed in three triples and knocked down both attempts at the charity stripe for her 13 points. Cooper pulled down a game-high 13 boards and Cunard dished out five assists.

UNW struggled from the floor (37.9 percent) and long range (17.4 percent), but held its counterpart to just a 27.7 field goal percentage and 5.6 shooting percentage from 3-point range.

The Eagles will return to the hardwood to host their final regular season home game of the season Saturday, as Bethany Lutheran College will visit the Ericksen Center for a 5 p.m. contest. Fans unable to make it out can follow the game live at www.unweagles.com
