Women’s Basketball Falls to UWS in UMAC Title Game

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team (21-6) fell to the top-seeded University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets (24-3), 58-34, in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament Championship Saturday night inside Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium.

The Eagles surrendered a 21-10 lead after the first 10 minutes of play and never found their rhythm, dropping the third meeting of the season.

Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) scored a team-high nine points on 4-of-9 shooting, while Regan Cooper (Pella, Iowa/Pella) added eight points and six rebounds. Courtney Cunard (Missouri Valley, Iowa/Missouri Valley) dished out three assists.

With her one steal tonight, Berglund ties the single-season all-time steals record at Northwestern (94).

The Eagles struggled shooting the basketball, as they finished the night shooting 26.7 percent from the floor and 14.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Sarah Lekson led all scorers with 15 points.

The Eagles will now await their National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Tournament fate, which will be announced Monday. Fans can stay up-to-date with all the happenings at www.unweagles.com
