Will Gisler (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) grabbed his 500th career rebound and notched his second double-double of the season as the University of Northwestern men's basketball team cruised to an 82-42 win over visiting Martin Luther College (1-21, 1-12) Friday evening inside the Ericksen Center. The Eagles move their record to 19-3 overall and 11-2 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
After a tightly-contested opening 10 minutes, the Eagles went on two 6-0 runs to distance themselves and take a 38-21 lead into the locker room. Gisler scored all 10 of his points in the opening frame, including a pair of shots from downtown. UNW started the second half on an 8-0 run and never looked back, securing its 19
th win of the season.
Kyle Ooms (Hollandale, MN/Albert Lea High School) netted a game-high 13 points and pulled down seven boards, while
Cody Sprenger (Grey Eagle, Minn./Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) added 11 points. Gisler also dished out four assists to lead all players.
Northwestern continued its trend of hot shooting, as the Eagles finished the night shooting 62.3 percent from the floor, while Martin Luther ended the contest with 32.1 field goal percent.
The Eagles will return to the hardwood to host their final regular season home game of the season Saturday, as Bethany Lutheran College will visit the Ericksen Center for a 3 p.m. contest. Fans unable to make it out can follow the game live at
