ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team fell to Snelling Avenue foe Bethel University (6-1), 88-48, Monday night inside the Ericksen Center. With the loss the Eagles fall to 1-4 on the year.

Bethel flexed its muscle early, jumping out to a 46-21 lead at the break and didn't look back, securing the non-conference win.

Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) finished in double figures for the Eagles, as the junior scored 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. She also cashed in on 4-of-5 free throws, while swiping five steals in 30 minutes of action. Tiffany Stubbs (Ames, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) went 5-of-6 at the line en route to finishing with nine points and Emily VanLith (Minot, N.D./Our Redeemers) was perfect from the floor to contribute six points and four rebounds.

Northwestern shot 28.8 percent from the floor, while going an impressive 17-for-21 (81 percent) at the charity stripe. Bethel finished the contest shooting 49.3 percent from the field.

The Eagles will travel to Minneapolis on Saturday to take on North Central at 3 p.m. Fans can find more information on the women's basketball program at www.unweagles.com.
