GREEN BAY – The University of Northwestern men's basketball team had its three-game winning streak snapped by UW-Platteville (7-3) in the opening game of the 10th Annual Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament Thursday evening. With the 74-65 loss, the Eagles drop to 6-4 on the year.

A balanced scoring effort from the UNW offense in the first 20 minutes of play made the score an even 38-38 heading into the break. The Eagles were on fire in the opening frame, hitting 66.7 percent of their shots from the field and from 3-point land.

The Pioneers put together a strong second-half effort to outscore the Eagles 36-27 and take the contest 74-65.

Will Gisler (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) led a trio of UNW players in double figures, as the senior poured in 18 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Gisler finished a perfect 8-for-8 at the charity stripe. Fellow seniors Porter Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Home School) (13) and Cody Sprenger (Grey Eagle, Minn./Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) (11) also hit double digits for UNW. Sprenger dished out a game-high seven assists.
