Four Players in Double Figures Lead Eagles to Triumph at Northland

ASHLAND, Wis. – The University of Northwestern men's basketball team remained perfect in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action with an 87-80 win at Northland College Saturday. The Eagles better their record to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in league play.

UNW used 10 first-half points from Anderson Bazile Jr. (Houston, Tex./San Antonio Reagan) to take a 44-37 lead into the break. The Eagles shot the ball extremely well in the first half, hitting more than 53 percent of their shots from the floor, while also shooting 44.4 percent from long range.

The Eagles – who continued their hot shooting in the second half – and Lumber Jacks played an even second half, giving Northwestern a key conference win heading into Christmas break.

Will Gisler (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville)'s game-high 23 points led a group of four players in double figures. Bazile Jr. poured in 17, while Cody Sprenger (Grey Eagle, Minn./Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) and Peter Maring (Harris, Minn./Cambridge Christian) added 15 and 12 points, respectively. Gisler also grabbed nine rebounds to lead all players.

Northwestern ended the night shooting 53.7 percent from the field and impressive 50 percent (7-for-14) from downtown.

The Eagles will be off until they travel to the St. Norbert Tournament Dec. 29-30 in Green Bay, Wis. Fans can find more information at www.unweagles.com.
