ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's soccer team (4-5-1) competed against Concordia College (Minn.) in a non-conference match Monday evening. The hard-fought battled was won by CC, as they were able to capture the 2-1 victory.
Opening up the game, both teams stormed the field ready for action. Throughout an aggressive 18:00 minutes of play, Concordia managed to net their first goal of the game to earn a 1-0 lead.
The period continued, as Northwestern offense assisted in generating four shots as the half came to a close. Eagle defense also put worth an outstanding effort, as they held the Cobber to a 1-0 score heading into halftime.
Making a strong contribution in the second, UNW's
Eric Fast (Eagan, Minn./Homeschool) scored off of a free kick at the 67' to make it a 1-1 tie game. As the clock wound down, Concordia buried their second goal with 7:00 remaining to secure a 2-1 win on the night.
UNW capped off the match with 14S and 5SOG, as CC recorded 20S and 4SOG.
