SUPERIOR, Wis. – The 19th-ranked University of Northwestern volleyball team made it 11-straight wins with a 3-1 win over the University of Wisconsin-Superior (7-20, 2-4) Tuesday night.
The Eagles – who won by set scores of 25-16, 25-14, 18-25, 25-11 – improve to 25-3 overall and 5-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
The Eagles hit .281, while the Yellowjackets were held to a .107 hitting percentage. UNW accumulated 83 points and UWS put up 43 on the night.
Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) once again stole the show, as the junior continued on her terror this fall, flooring a match-high 26 kills, 33 digs and four blocks. She hit an impressive .355 and only had six errors on 55 attempts.
Shanay Gonder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) (16) and
Freya Hanson (Otsego, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) (10) also reached double-digit totals in kills. Gonder hit .500 and also racked up three blocks.
Toria Gillson (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Christian) and
Anna Gasch (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) contributed four blocks each, while
Leesa Hulstrand (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) added 32 assists and
Jackie Doering (Charles City, Iowa/Charles City) 28 digs.
