ST. PAUL – The No. 19 University of Northwestern volleyball team pushed its win streak to 12 with a sweep over the visiting College of St. Scholastica (9-14, 4-2) Saturday afternoon inside the Ericksen Center. The Eagles – who won by set scores of 25-22, 25-12 and 25-18 – move to 26-3 overall and 6-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
UNW hit .398, while CSS was held to a .082 hitting percentage. The Eagles also tallied 45 kills to the Saints' 27.
Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) led the Eagles offensively, flooring a match-high 22 kills to go along with nine digs.
Toria Gillson (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Christian) had a big day at the net, posting five blocks.
Abby Vander Galien (Chanhassen, Minn./Southwest Christian) was also strong defensively, recording 14 digs. Fellow junior
Jackie Doering (Charles City, Iowa/Charles City) also reached double digits in digs after notching 13.
Freya Hanson (Otsego, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) contributed eight kills and a pair of service aces.
