EAU CLAIRE, WIS. – The No. 24 University of Northwestern volleyball team captured a 3-1 victory over No. 21 UW-Oshkosh on day one of the UW-Eau Claire Tournament Friday evening. The Eagles – who won by set scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-14, 25-15 – now improve to 22-3 on the season.
On the powerful offense attack,
Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) slammed 19 kills to compliment 12 digs, and also noted two blocks to conclude the game. Right behind her was
Shanay Gonder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) who tabbed 11 kills on the night's match.
Freya Hanson (Otsego, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) also had a strong performance, as she marked 10 kills, 17 digs, three aces, and two blocks.
In her defensive efforts,
Jackie Doering (Charles City, Iowa/Charles City) managed to scoop 22 digs, while also snagging one assist.
Capping off the contest, the team posted 56 kills, 140 total attacks (.250%), 69 points, 45 assists, 66 digs, five aces, and six blocks.
