ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team remained unbeaten in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play, as the Eagles used a balanced attack to defeat the College of St. Scholastica (5-10, 3-4), 74-49, Friday night inside the Ericksen Center. With the victory, UNW improves to 12-3 overall and 7-0 in league play.

Jessica Cole (Altoona, Iowa/Southeast Polk) buzzer-beater threes at the end of the first and second quarters, the Eagles led 36-23 at the break. Coach Kahl's unit played strong defense throughout the night, as Northwestern held Scholastica to just seven points in the second quarter. UNW dominated the second half, outscoring CSS 38-26 to take the contest, 74-49.
Cole and
Taryn Tumbleson (Sherburn, Minn./Martin County West) continued to spark the Eagles, as the pair dropped 18 and 10 points, respectively, to lead the way. Cole knocked down three from downtown, while Tumbleson added a pair of 3-pointers.
Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) finished with nine points, while
Tiffany Stubbs (Ames, Iowa/Des Moines Christian),
Kim Campbell (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) and
Regan Cooper (Pella, Iowa/Pella) all contributed eight points. Cooper also pulled down a team-high nine boards.
UNW shot 49.2 percent from the floor, while holding their counterpart to just a 29 percent night from the floor.
