ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern men's soccer team (0-3-0) fell to visiting Macalester (1-0-3), 3-0, Tuesday night in a non-conference contest at Reynolds Field. The Eagles battled the Scots for 90 minutes, but were unable to overcome a potent offensive attack.
The Scots jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, scoring twice in the 15
th minute, as Charlie Spurr struck first, followed by a Jake Burke goal. Tristan Springer found the back of the net in the second half to give MAC a 3-0 lead. The visitors held a 25-3 advantage in the shots category.
Joshua Fryc (Harris, Minn./Homeschool) put pressure on the Macalester defense, firing three shots with one of those being on goal.
Turner Main (Kewaunee, Wis./Kewaunee) continues to be solid in goal for the Eagles, as the sophomore grabbed 11 saves on the night. Eight of Main's 11 saves came in the first 45 minutes of action.
