UNW Stumbles in Day Two of Augsburg Tournament

ST. PAUL – In a close match-up, the Eagles fell in three sets to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the University of St. Thomas in five sets on day two of the Augsburg Tournament.

Match 1 vs UW- La Crosse (28-26, 25-18, 25-22)

UNW struggled on offense across the board with all hitters in the single digit club but out-blocked the maroon 9-4. UW- La Crosse's Jaclyn Barrette had an impressive 43 assists for the match, as they spread the net with their kills. Both teams struggled with hitting percentage, but UWLC edged out UNW with .182 over .091.

Match 2 vs St. Thomas (26-28, 25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 13-15)

In the closest match of the season, the Eagles couldn't seem to stop the Tommies despite an all-out finish to the tournament. Team statistics were almost equivalent for both teams. Abby Vander Galien (Chanhassen, Minn./Southwest Christian) stole the show with 18 kills, the most for both teams. Peterson followed the sophomore with 15. Shanay Gonder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) racked four blocks, the second most for both squads. Foster (28) and Peterson (19) led the teams in digs.
