Box Score 2 St. Bonifacius, Minn — The University of Northwestern continue to see success on the field as they claimed the doubleheader against Crown College with final scores of 10-3 and 6-1 Saturday night.
Game 1: UNW: 10, UMM: 3 Threlkeld and Forcier started the game with two consecutive singles. Two at-bats later, Lokke added a single with a shot up the middle, scoring Threlkeld. Brahan added an RBI of her own as Forcier ran home. With one inning under their belt, the Eagles took an early 2-0 lead. The Eagles kept the offensive push rolling as Threlkeld nailed a double down the left line in the top of the third. With an Ankrom single, Threlkeld scored, bringing the score to 3-0. Crown made a small comeback with two runs in the third due to a two RBI play by Becerra's double down left center.
Going into the top of the fourth, Northwestern refused to settle for a 3-2 lead, scoring a solid three more runs. Threlkeld's double halfway through the inning brought in Guetter and Silbernick. Ankrom tallied the next RBI as Threlkeld scored an unearned run. Crown made a small push responded with a solo run in the fourth.
Forcier and Ankrom scored in the sixth building on the Purple and Gold's momentum and ended with a final run by Guetter in the seventh, as Northwestern ended 10-3 over the Storm.
Game 2: UNW: 6, UMM: 1Forcier scored the solo Eagle run in the first thanks to Lokke's single to left center. However, Crown kept them scoreless until the top of the fourth, after the Storm scored one run in the third. Threlkeld's single to the left side came in clutch as Klingbeil and Feldheim both scored. Skipping ahead to the top of the sixth, Ankrom tallied a double as Forcier saw home plate again, putting the first run of the inning on the board. With one more opportunity to score, Silbernick executed with a single to center field as Ankrom scored, bringing the score to 5-1. With one more inning to go, the visitors secured one last run as Guerkink scored due to Klingbeil's single.
Northwestern improved to a 7-2 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference record. The Eagles will play another set of doubleheaders as they head to Duluth on Monday to face the College of St. Scholastica at 3 p.m. On Tuesday, the Eagles will face North Central University in Minneapolis for more conference action with a starting time of 3 p.m.
