Erica Brahan started the game with a two-out single up the middle, allowing
Emily Geurkink (Baldwin, Wis./Baldwin-Woodville) to score in the 1st for UNW's first run. Later in the third, the Eagles left the bases loaded, ending the inning with an infield fly and strikeout. In the first three innings, Northwestern left six players on base.

Silbernick ended the inning with a strikeout and fly out in the bottom of the third, as UNW still held the 2-0 lead. UNW out-hit BLC 9-4 after five complete innings. Fortunately, three UNW errors did not affect the Eagles to this point in the game. Geurkink scored on a Brahan infield single in the top of the 7th. With a Vikings throwing error,
Jennifer Ankrom (New Hampton, Iowa/New Hampton) scored as well, bumping the Eagles to a 3-0 lead. Both of Brahan's RBI hits (1st and 7th innings) came with two outs.
With four straight hits for the Vikings, BLC came in with two runs, bringing them to a score of 3-2, trailing by just one. A costly defensive error by UNW came at an unfortunately period of the game. With two outs, the Vikings hit a single down the middle, scoring two more runs to win the game for BLC 4-3. All four of Bethany's runs in 7th inning were from five hits.
GAME 2: CCM 3, UNW 2History repeats itself after the Eagles fell to Concordia College-Moorhead yesterday with another loss on their plate against the Cobbers.
Northwestern held off Concordia for the first two innings. At the bottom of the second, Brahan doubled to center field and later scored the first run for the Eagles. Forcier stole second base and scored due to
Ellen Larkin (Excelsior, Minn./Southwest Christian)'s grounder and Klingbeil's single to left field. The Eagles ended the inning with two runs and two left on base. The Cobbers responded with one run in the next inning due to an RBI hit from Gardner. With the score of 2-1 entering the bottom of the third, Geurkink grounded out to first base. Ankrom singled to right field with Brahan following with a double in center field, advancing Ankrom to third. Lokke added a single to the mix, and with Larkin's walk, the Eagles brought in Ankrom for their third run of the day.
Concordia added a run in the fourth but it was the top of the fifth that doomed Northwestern. The Cobbers racked up five runs due to a few wild pitches and a home run, bringing two players in to score. With two quiet innings in between, Concordia picked it up again in the top of the seventh with two more runs to top it off, bringing the final score to 9-3.
Northwestern will host St. Catherine University for a double header next Friday for their first home contest, starting at 4 p.m. The Eagles will host Augsburg on the Saturday to follow for another double header, starting at 1 p.m.
