HANCOCK, Mich. – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team used a strong second half to down Finlandia University 67-50 Saturday and make it a perfect 2-0 weekend on the road. With the victory, the Eagles stretch their win streak to four games and improve their season record to 5-2.
Holding a 26-24 lead at the break, the Eagles shot a blistering 62.9 percent from the field and an eye-popping 62.5 percent from downtown in the second half to outscore the Lions 41-26 in the final two frames to pick up the victory.
Tiffany Stubbs (Ames, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) connected on five 3-pointers en route to finishing with a game-high 15 points.
Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) dropped in 13 points, while
Kim Campbell (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) and
Jessica Cole (Altoona, Iowa/Southeast Polk) each scored 11 to contribute to the UNW offensive attack. Campbell also dished out four assists to lead all players.
The Eagles dominated the glass, holding a 47-33 advantage in the rebound category Saturday.
Northwestern will return home to host Crown Friday inside the Ericksen Center. Tip is slated for 7:30 p.m.
