NCAA Tournament Preview: UNW To Take On Familiar Foe BU in Sweet 16

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Northwestern volleyball team will take on familiar foe Bethel University Saturday night in its first-ever trip to the Sweet 16. First serve between the Snelling Avenue schools is set for 7 p.m. with a trip to the Elite Eight on the line. The Eagles advanced to the NCAA Regional Championship with a dominant 3-0 win over Wartburg College Friday night. Read and watch how the Eagles picked up the historic win below:

---Dating back to Sept. 19, the Eagles have won 22 of their last 23 matches.
---UNW  is playing  in its first-ever Sweet 16.
---Northwestern's 28 victories this season are tied for the second-most in program history.
---With Thursday's win, UNW has knocked off the No. 1 seed in the region for the second straight year.
---Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) was named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Peterson was also selected to the AVCA All-Central Region Team Thursday. Six others were named all-conference in Thursday's release. See the complete release here
---Head Coach Beth Wilmeth took home her fifth UMAC Coach of the Year award.
---The Eagles are 6-2 in neutral matches this season.
---Northwestern lost in three sets to Bethel in September.
---The Eagles and Royals met in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2011, with BU taking the postseason contest 3-0.
