MANKATO, Minn. – The University of Northwestern volleyball team extended its win streak to nine with a 3-0 victory over Bethany Lutheran Tuesday night. The Eagles won by set scores of 25-11, 25-18 and 25-9 en route to moving to 3-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork), who was named the UMAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday, added another double-double to her already impressive season resume, slamming a match-high 12 kills, while tallying 10 digs. The freshman also had six service aces on the evening.
Leesa Hulstrand (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) had 14 assists and pounded down six kills, while
Abby Vander Galien (Chanhassen, Minn./Southwest Christian) recorded 10 digs.
UNW owned the net, posting 11 blocks to BLC's one.
Shanay Gonder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) led the way for the Eagles, notching seven blocks on the night.
The Eagles will make the short trip down Snelling Friday for a non-conference tilt at Hamline. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
