Second Half Goals Lifts Eagles to 2-1 Win Over Ripon

Ripon, Wis. — The University of Northwestern's men's soccer team scored two goals in the final 15 minutes to defeat Ripon College 3-1 Thursday afternoon.
 
Ripon's Cameron Greene scored to put the Red Hawks on the board.  
 
Ethan Hart (Marshall, Minn./Marshall) scored his first goal of the season with an assist by senior Sean Denniston (Hartland, Wis. /Arrowhead) in the 75th minute of play. Hart placed the ball just inside the left post, missing the Red Hawks keeper. Ten minutes later, sophomore Matthew McCann (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) scored his third goal of the season with an assist from a Micah Mogler (Mendota Heights, Minn./LCA) corner kick.
 
Northwestern out-shot Ripon 19-8 due to an explosive second half by the Eagles. UNW had 10 shots on goal compared to the three from the Red Hawks
 
Northwestern (4-3-1 UMAC) will host Crown College for a crucial Upper Midwest Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday night at 7:15 p.m. The Eagles, currently in third place, are only one win above Bethany Lutheran College.
