UNW earns 3-0 shutout win over Northland

ST. PAUL — The University of Northwestern men's soccer team shutout Northland College 3-0 Saturday night at Reynolds Field.

Matthew McCann (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) started the game off strong as he scored off a rebound just under four minutes into the game. Micah Mogler (Mendota Heights, Minn./LCA) kept the ball rolling with a second Eagle goal as he launched it right over the LumberJack keeper's reach with 28 minutes into the half. With 2-0 advantage over Northland, Northwestern had a comfortable lead over the Jacks. Northwestern had eight more shots on goal than NC in the first period alone.

Micah Mogler (Mendota Heights, Minn./LCA) tallied his second goal of the night 14 minutes into the second from about 20 yards back. Able to hold on to the win, Jared Brown (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Minnehaha ) subbed in for Turner Main (Kewaunee, Wis./Kewaunee) in the final stretch, who was credited the shutout for UNW.

Northwestern (4-3-1 UMAC) will host St. Olaf College at 7 p.m. on Monday night and travel to Ripon College in Wisconsin on Tuesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. game.
