DULUTH, Minn. – Holding first place in conference, the College of St. Scholastica won the home field victory over the University of Northwestern. The undefeated Saints beat the Eagles 1-0 on Friday night afternoon.
St. Scholastica started the game with an early goal by Andrew Jenkins, assisted by Tom Corcoran and Andrew Zotta-Dickson with 4:47 on the clock in the first half. That marks Jenkins 24th goal this season. With no additional goals in the first half, the Eagles went into halftime with a 1-0 deficit. Turner Main (Kewauee, Wis./Kewaunee) had six saves.
The second period proved to be similar to the first with the Saints out-shooting the Eagles 12-3, with
Turner Main (Kewauee, Wis./Kewaunee) collecting five more saves for the Eagles. No additional goals were made in the second half, resulting in a home team victory.
Defensively, Jacob Ballheimer only tallied three saves for the Saints. Both teams had six corners apiece , however neither team capitalized on goal.
Northwestern (5-11-1 Overall, 4-5-1 UMAC) will face Northland College at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon in Ashland, Wisconsin in search for another conference win before post-season begins.
