Box Score NEW ULM, Minn. – It was a two wins in two days weekend for the University of Northwestern men's soccer team, as the Eagles came out victorious against Martin Luther College Saturday afternoon.
Sean Taylor (Sydney, Australia /Kenosha Christian Life ) notched a pair of scores in the second half of the 2-0 win to help his team improve to an even 9-9 overall record.
The first half saw a mix of attacks from both teams, with the opposite defense holding strong in front of their own goals. After exchanging possession for most of the 45 minutes of action, Northwestern ended the half with four consecutive shots, but none would change the score from an even 0-0.

Sean Taylor (Sydney, Australia /Kenosha Christian Life ) for the sophomore's second goal of the weekend. Fast picked up his third assist in two days as a result of the 75
th minute score that handed the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Martin Luther countered with a shot minutes later in attempts to erase the deficit, but it was the only attempt the Knights would get in the second period. Taylor once again made his presence felt with his second successful boot of the afternoon at the 87:51 mark, securing what would be the final outcome in favor of UNW.
The second half proved to be the offensive difference maker for the visiting team. After tallying one less shot than MLC in the first half, the Eagles would win the battle by a margin of 10 in the remainder of the contest. In the net,
Shane Coleman (Wyoming, Minn./Homeschool) notched a shutout after picking up credit for four saves.
Northwestern improved to a .500 record of 9-9 in the matchup that also saw the team's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) mark move up to 9-3. UNW has also secured a spot in the UMAC Postseason Tournament which will begin play on Wednesday, November 6.
Next up for the Eagles is the final weekend of the regular season featuring a Friday 3:15 p.m. matchup at Crown College, followed by a 2:15 p.m. Saturday contest at the University of Minnesota Morris.
