MSOC: Carleton pressure too much for UNW

Box Score NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The University of Northwestern traveled south for a matchup versus Carleton College Tuesday afternoon, ending up on the low end of the 2-0 final score. The Eagles were able to withstand 29 of the Knight's 31 shots but it was the two that found the back of the net that were the game-changers for both teams.

Carleton owned possession of momentum early on, posting six shots before the Eagles stopped a bit of the run with a corner kick in the 15th minute. The Knights kept hold of possession and forced its first goal past the UNW defense and into the left center of the net at the 20:01 mark. Northwestern continued to hold up against a barrage of home team offense as time ran out in the first period, facing a 1-0 lead at the break.

Carleton didn't take long to get back up on the scoreboard as the squad notched its second and final goal 4:14 into the final period. The Purple and Gold would eventually respond with some pressure on the other end of the field, but the Knight defense solidified the end result, a 2-0 win in favor of the home team on the scoreboard.

In goal, Shane Coleman (Wyoming, Minn./Homeschool) tallied 11 saves as the marshal of the defense that saw 13 shots on goal. On the offensive front, Sean Taylor (Sydney, Australia /Kenosha Christian Life ) led the UNW with three of the team's five shots.
