MANKATO, Minn. – Four goals in the second half earned the Northwestern College men's soccer team a win against Bethany Lutheran College Saturday afternoon. The Eagles outscored the home team 4-3 in the second period, thanks in part to a two goal performance by senior Sam Mann.

After a scoreless first half for both teams,a pass from Sam Diatta (Ziguinchor, Senegal/St. Paul Central) to #Mann# sparked the Northwestern offense at the 59:30 mark as Mann notched his third goal of the weekend, giving the Eagle's a 1-0 lead.

Northwestern continued the trend of scoring quickly as two minutes later Jerome Horton (Monrovia, Liberia/St. Paul Central) tallied his first goal of the year off another Sam Diatta (Ziguinchor, Senegal/St. Paul Central) assist, giving the visitors on the scoreboard a 2-0 advantage over the Vikings. Just six minutes and 15 seconds after the Eagles' first goal, #Mann# sent the ball past Bethany Lutheran's goalkeeper off a penalty kick and increased NWC's lead to three goals.

The Vikings responded to the Purple and Gold's run and rallied for three goals of their own, tying the score at the 84:32 mark.

With just two minutes and twenty seconds remaining, Sean Taylor (Sydney, Australia /Kenosha Christian Life ) finished the flurry of second half scoring and earned his first collegiate goal while also securing a 4-3 lead for the visiting team. Fellow freshman Peter Olson (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria) was credited for the assist, his first in an Eagle uniform.

Northwestern  outshot the Vikings 13-7 and posted three more corner kicks than the home team in Saturday's win.

NWC (3-2) now owns a three-game win streak heading into Tuesday's  4 p.m. matchup against non-conference opponent Hamline University, taking place at Reynolds Field.
