Men's soccer comes up short in opening game

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Northwestern College men's soccer team came up short in its season kickoff Friday evening, losing a 3-0 matchup against St. Olaf College.

Shane Coleman (Wyoming, Minn./Homeschool) came up with four saves in the first 10 minutes of play, but St. Olaf continued to attack the net, scoring its first goal 25 minutes into the game. Bocan finished the first contest of his junior season with six saves, while Josh Olson (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea/Ukarumpa Int'l) tallied one.

Offensively, St. Olaf outshot the Eagles 22-1 and also posted a 10-0 shots on goal advantage. NWC had two corner kicks in the game, compared to the Oles' nine. 

Northwestern (0-1) will look for its first win of the 2012 campaign on Tuesday in a 4 p.m. contest against the University of St. Thomas. The Eagles will return home on Friday, September 7 when they take on Bethel University in a 3 p.m. afternoon matchup.
