Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score

ST. PAUL -- The Northwestern College softball team's final home games at Reynolds Field didn't go the Eagles' way on Wednesday as NWC lost to St. Catherine University 8-2 and 6-0. Northwestern will head into this weekend's UMAC Tournament with an 18-22 overall record.

Wednesday's first game saw the Eagles and Wildcats tied 2-2 after the second inning. St. Kate's scored two runs off Kelsey Timm (Iowa Falls, Iowa/Iowa Falls-Aiden) in the top of the frame before NWC answered with a two-run bottom half. With runners on the corners, head coach Alicia du'Monceaux executed a double steal, with Lauren Walker (Shoreview, Minn./Concordia Academy) scoring from third base after Kelsey Timm (Iowa Falls, Iowa/Iowa Falls-Aiden) took second. Lindsay Deans (St. Francis, Minn./St. Francis) then hit an RBI single to score Timm.

While neither team could take a lead for a few innings, the Wildcats did some definitive damage, scoring three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings. A Cassie Rooney double scored Arianna Kooyman from first base in the sixth before two triples helped produce more runs for St. Kate's in the seventh.

Six of the eight runs scored by the Wildcats were charged to Timm as being earned as St. Kate's scattered nine hits. Northwestern was held to four hits by pitcher Morgan Bohmbach. Timm had two of those hits, with Deans picking up the only RBI for the Eagles on the day.

NWC didn't fare any better in Game 2, as the Wildcats outhit the home team 12-2, while the Eagles committed four errors throughout the seven inning affair. St. Kate's scored one run in the first inning and two runs in the fourth before ending the game with a three-run seventh frame.

Molly Johnsen (Floodwood, Minn./Floodwood) had a tough outing in the pitcher's circle, allowing three earned runs on 12 hits. Briana Rodgers (Monticello, Minn./Monticello) and Johnsen had the Eagles' two hits, with Rodgers' being a double.

The Eagles enter Friday's first round of the double elimination  UMAC Tournament as the third seed of four teams. NWC will play the University of Minnesota Morris first at 10 a.m. at St. Scholastica's Kenwood Field in Duluth, Minn.
