Baseball struggles against No. 6 St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. -- The Northwestern College baseball team went up a giant in No. 6 St. Scholastica on Friday night, falling hard in a 15-5 final score.  The Saints roughed up NWC's pitchers with 13 hits in a game that ended after St. Scholastica eclipsed the 10-run rule in the eighth inning.

Josh Markwith (Honolulu, HI/Kalani) (Honolulu, Hawaii/Kalani) went 3-4 at the plate in his first appearance at Wallace Wade Stadium, scoring three runs while recording three RBI.  Markwith's brother Zach (Honolulu, Hawaii/St. Louis) had a 2-4 day in the batter's box, as did Monte Abeler (Upsala, Minn./Upsala) (Upsala, Minn./Upsala).|

Tyler Campion (Robbinsdale, Minn./Maranatha Christian) (Robbinsdale, Minn./Maranatha Christian Academy) had a tough day on the mound, givin up nine earned runs in four innings pitched.  Olyad Regassa (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis South) (Minneapolis, Minn./Southeast) didn't fare much better, yielding six earned runs in two and two-thirds innings pitched.

Northwestern (14-19, 10-8 UMAC) will get two more shots at the current UMAC leader as the Eagles and Saints will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
