ST. PAUL -- Northwestern College softball pitcher Ashley Olson (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) one-upped her no-hitter from April of 2009 with a seven-strikeout perfect game against Crown College on Tuesday afternoon as the Eagles rolled over the Storm 13-1 and 15-0.  Olson, a senior, put on a clinic in the day's second contest, facing the minimum 15 batters in an abbreviated five innings after the Eagles had earned enough runs to surpass the eight-run rule.

In the first game of the day, which counted towards each team's UMAC record, Northwestern scored in all but one inning while pouring on five and six runs in the second and fourth frames.  Up 2-0, the Eagles found offense in the second inning.  After the first two batters of the inning flied and struck out, an error and two singles gave Northwestern's Briana Rodgers (Monticello, Minn./Monticello) (Monticello, Minn./Monticello) a prime opportunity to drive some runs in and that she did as the sophomore sent a grand slam home run over the left field fence to boost the advantage to 6-0.

Rodgers added three more RBI in the game, which came on a double down the left field line in the fourth inning.  Kristin Sigurdsen (Barron, Wis./Barron) (Barron, Wis./Barron), Lauren Walker (Shoreview, Minn./Concordia Academy) (Shoreview, Minn./Concordia Academy) and Brittany Anderson (Amery, Wis./Amery) (Amery, Wis./Amery) all joined Rodgers with multiple hits as the Eagles out-hit Crown 10-2.

Kelsey Timm (Iowa Falls, Iowa/Iowa Falls-Aiden) (Iowa Falls, Iowa/Iowa Falls-Aiden) struck out seven Crown batters to earn her third victory of the season in the pitcher's circle.

Following a quick break, Olson got her chance to shine, forcing zeros in each of the Storm's at-bats.  In the mean time, the Eagle bats stayed busy.  Sigurdsen led the way at the plate this time, going 3-4 with three runs scored. Nine different Northwestern players earned at least one RBI in the game that saw the Eagles open the game with a seven-run fourth inning after scoring three, two and three in the initial three frames.

Northwestern, now 6-10 overall on the season, begins its home record on the right foot at 2-0.  The Eagles will get another shot to defend their home turf this weekend when they host Northland College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
