WACONIA, Minn. -- The Northwestern College baseball team completed a season sweep over Crown College on Tuesday night with a 6-2 victory at Phil Peterson Park. The Eagles out-hit their opponents 10-6 while receiving a solid, complete-game outing from pitcher Tyler Campion (Robbinsdale, Minn./Maranatha Christian) (Robbinsdale, Minn./Maranatha Christian Academy) that included 15 strikeouts.

After giving up a pair of early runs to Crown in the first and third innings, Campion settled down and forced zeros on the Storm's run count while Northwestern's bats started to wake up. Josh Markwith (Honolulu, HI/Kalani) (Honolulu, Hawaii/Kalani) doubled to left field before scoring on an infield single by Cody Kielsa (Howard Lake, Minn./Rogers) (Howard Lake, Minn./Rogers) in the fourth inning. The Eagles followed with a two-run sixth frame, when Kielsa recorded another RBI, this time scoring Brady Erickson (Chisholm, Minn./Chisholm) (Chisholm, Minn./Chisholm). Andy Borud (Grand Marais, Minn./Cook County) (Grand Marais, Minn./Cook County) followed with an RBI hit of his own to score Kielsa.

Northwestern took advantage of two Crown errors in the seventh, crossing home plate twice on sacrifice flies from Taylor Kauweloa (Kailua, Hawaii/Damien Memorial) (Kailua, Hawaii/Damien Memorial) and Markwith. The Eagles wrapped up the game with a run in the ninth inning as Mike Sharp (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) scored on a wild pitch.

Campion finished the game having given up six hits and just one earned run en route to earning the win. Nick Jones (Maple Grove, Minn./Wayzata) (Maple Grove, Minn./Wayzata) had the best day at the plate, going 2-3. Borud and Kielsa also recorded two hits apiece in the game.

Northwestern, now 7-11 overall and 6-3 in UMAC play, will hope to continue its momentum this weekend when the Eagles play a three-game series with the University of Minnesota, Morris in Morris. NWC and the Cougars will start things off on Friday with a nine inning game at 3 p.m.
