Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. -- The Northwestern College volleyball team won its 11th straight match on Tuesday evening, beating Crown College 3-0 on the Storm's home court. The Eagles didn't have their best match of the season, but still managed to hit .276 en route to the 25-19, 25-13, 25-20 victory.
Courtney Jonas (Neenah, Wis./Valley Christian) (Neenah, Wis./Valley Christian),
Chelsea Koth (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) and
Greta King (Willmar, Minn./Willmar) (Willmar, Minn./Willmar) all recorded 10 or more kills in the match. Jonas was on fire, leading the team with 13 kills on 21 attempts for a .524 attacking percentage.
Krista Stoltz (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) had 39 of Northwestern's 41 assists on the night as four different players hit .200 or better.
Defensively, the Eagles had nine blocks, six of which came off the hands of
Jacki Smith (Roseville, Minn./Concordia Academy) (Shoreview, Minn./Concordia Academy). King added four blocks and 10 digs to complete her all-around performance.
Naomi Anderson, Shelby Vischer and Trisha Birr each had six kills for Crown, who hit .070 on the night.
Now 17-2 overall and 5-0 in UMAC action, Northwestern will return to its home court in the Ericksen Center for back-to-back nights of matches during homecoming week on campus. The Eagles will host Northland College on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. before facing the College of St. Scholastica on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. NWC will be hosting a silent auction in conjunction with Friday's match with the night's proceeds going to a scholarship fund for four-year-old Kaiya Norbie, whose mother, Jen, passed away at the age of 33 after battling cancer.
