Men's Soccer struggles at Carleton in 6-1 loss

Box Score NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Northwestern College men's soccer team ran into a tough nonconference opponent in Carleton College on Tuesday afternoon and returned home with a 6-1 loss from the Knights.

Edgar Renteria (Mexico City, Mexico/Brooklyn Center) (Mexico City, Mexico/Brooklyn Center) scored the Eagles' lone goal in the game, taking a serve from Blake Brackett (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) and putting a one touch shot into the upper corner of the net in the 28th minute.  After Nathan Park scored Carleton's first goal of the game at the 20:53 mark, Renteria's goal tied the game through halftime. Carleton went on a tear to start the second half, scoring three goals in less than three minutes starting in the 55th minute before adding goal Nos. 5 and 6 in the 81st and 83rd minutes.

Carleton owned a 16-4 advantage in shots while the two teams were even with five corner kicks apiece.

Now 4-6-2 overall in 2011, Northwestern will return home to host Crown College on Friday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.
