ST. PAUL -- The Northwestern College men's soccer team is still in the hunt for its first win of the 2010 season after a 3-0 loss to the University of St. Thomas. The Tommies scored all three of their goals in the first half to solidify the game' end result fairly early in the contest.
Angel Riera scored just two minutes into the game for UST, followed by a goal from Adam Wiechert in the 29th minute. Nick Rapisarda and Ian Ibach each tallied an assist as Elliot Amundson added another insurance goal for the Tommies in the 44th minute.
St. Thomas held a 9-1 advantage in total shots and a 6-2 upper hand in shots on goal. Both teams' goalkeepers guarded their respective nets throughout the entire 90 minutes.
Northwestern remains in search of its first victory in the Eagles' 2010 campaign, leaving St. Thomas with an 0-2-1 overall record. NWC will play next on Thursday, Sept. 9 when both the Eagle men's and women's squads will host Bethel University at 3 and 5 p.m. at Reynolds Field.
