Men's Soccer earns 2-0 shutout over Northland

Box Score

ASHLAND, Wis. – A goal in each half of Saturday's men's soccer game against Northland College gave Northwestern College a 2-0 shutout victory. The Eagles held the LumberJacks to two shots, neither of which were on goal, while firing 23 shots and six shots on goal of their own.

Sam Mann (Woodbury, Minn./St. Paul Central) (Woodbury, Minn./St. Paul Central) scored NWC's first goal of the game at the 32:32 mark after an assist from Blake Brackett (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy). Brackett had a hand in the Eagles' second goal of the afternoon as Clayton Athman (St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo) scored on Brackett's corner kick in the 61st minute for an insurance goal.

Mann's goal was his team-leading third of the season. NWC returns home with a 4-4-1 overall record and a 3-1 mark in UMAC play. The Eagles will return to the pitch on Friday, Oct. 8, when they host Bethany Lutheran College in a 3:30 p.m. contest.
