ST. PAUL -- For the second straight night, Northwestern College swept their competition to finish the week 4-0. NWC bested Presentation College 3-0 to stretch their consecutive UMAC winning streak to 33 before sending Macalester College packing in another 3-0 win.

The Eagles didn't take long to beat Presentation as Northwestern won 25-12, 25-12, 25-7. NWC cruised in the third set of the match thanks much in part to the serving of Kelsey Korporal (Sumner, Iowa/Sumner-Fredericksburg) (Sumner, Iowa/Sumner-Fredericksburg) as the senior tallied five aces in the final 10 points.

Offensively, Northwestern hit .241 as a team as Elissa Sandstrom (Cloquet, Minn./Carlton) (Cloquet, Minn./Carlton) hit .389 on her own to finish the match with 10 kills. Sandstrom came up big on defense as well, recording three blocks. Chelsea Koth (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) and Danielle Rhodes (Iowa City, Iowa/City) (Iowa City, Iowa/City) each added five kills to the Eagles' offensive attack while Leah Kostek (West Des Moines, Iowa/Des Moines Christian ) (West Des Moines, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) set the table with 19 assists.

In addition to her serving prowess, Korporal was the match leader with 12 digs as the three-set match wrapped up in a mere 50 minutes.

In comparison to NWC's production, Presentation was held to negative hitting numbers while being out-blocked 9-0.

When it seemed like the Eagles' couldn't be any more on their A game, Northwestern shined in its match against Macalester, hitting a season-best .398 against the Scots. With the exception of a closer second set, NWC rolled 25-7, 25-21, 25-9 over a team that upset a once-ranked St. Benedict team earlier in the week.

Sandstrom one-upped herself in the match, recording 11 kills on 16 attempts for a .688 personal attacking percentage. Koth wasn't far behind as the junior put forth a .556 effort, landing 10 of 18 attacks for kills. Kostek did her part too with 30 assists to put the four-year starter just 31 assists short of 3,000 for her career.

Every one of King's six kills in the match had power behind them while the second-year Eagle led both teams with 13 digs.

On the other side of the court, Macalester left the Ericksen Center with an even .000 hitting percentage while being out-blocked 7-0. Majra Mucic was the Scots' kills leader with seven.

Once 3-9 this season, Northwestern has won eight straight matches to boost its 2010 record to 12-9 and 4-0 in conference play. The Eagles will now be able to rest for the duration of the weekend before looking ahead to yet another triangular at home against Crown College and St. Mary's University (Minn.) on Wednesday, Oct. 6. NWC's first match against Crown is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start. The remaining two matches, the second of which will feature Northwestern vs. 24th-ranked St. Mary's, will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the previous contest.
