Box Score

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. -- The Northwestern College women's basketball team didn't take too long to overtake host-Crown College on Saturday night. The Eagles owned a 38-17 halftime lead before cruising to an 81-38 victory to maintain a tie for second place in the UMAC standings.

After maintaining a plus-or-minus five-point lead throughout the meat of the first half, Northwestern broke away with 12 straight points in seven minutes to lead by 21 going into the locker room. The Eagles continued to pour on the offense with an entire team effort, as every healthy NWC player contributed at least 15 minutes of time in the 43-point win.

Northwestern made 45 percent of its attempts while Crown struggled at 28 percent on the day. The Eagles drained over half of their shots from behind the three-point line at 53 percent and out-rebounded their opponents by a 55-27 margin.

Katie DeWitt (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) went off for 36 points in the game, making 14 of her 18 attempts from the floor and five of eight from downtown. Megan Myhre (Barnum, Minn./Barnum) was two rebounds short of a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing eight boards in 15 minutes of play. Tanya Dickey (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) added seven points in 11 minutes for NWC.

Judy Mundt carried Crown's effort, scoring 15 points for the Storm (0-9 overall, 0-4 UMAC).

With the win, Northwestern improves its record to 8-6 overall and 3-1 in UMAC play. The Eagles remain tied for second place with Minnesota-Morris in the conference standings. NWC will have a shot at the Cougars on Saturday, Jan. 23, but will have to take care of business with Presentation College in a 5:30 p.m. bout on Friday, Jan. 22.
