Women's Hoops preserves victory over Bethany Lutheran

MANKATO, Minn. – Northwestern College held off the Bethany Lutheran College after the host-Vikings mounted a comeback from the Eagles' 16-point halftime lead to win 68-64. The win was NWC's seventh in its last eight games.

Northwestern established its presence under the hoop early and often, which was evidenced by the Eagles' 13-rebound advantage and 32 points in the paint. NWC made 43 of its attempts in the game and 41 percent of its shots from behind the three-point arc.

Katie DeWitt (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) led the Eagles with 24 points and 15 rebounds to add yet another double-double to her season's resume. Kaelee Kendrick (Eagan, Minn./Bethany Academy) (Eagan, Minn./Bethany Academy) tallied 12 rebounds in the game, while Ariel Liesch (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) scored 11 points. Both DeWitt and Liesch tallied four assists in the game.

Lindsey Kahle paced Bethany Lutheran (7-13 overall, 1-8 UMAC) with 26 points, while Eva Voss added 11 points.

Northwestern, now 9-11 this season (7-2 UMAC), will continue its quest for back-to-back conference championships on Saturday when the team travels to New Ulm, Minn. to face Martin Luther College. The Eagles, who are currently tied for second place in the league with Northland College, will meet the Knights from Martin Luther in a 3 p.m. game.
