ST. PAUL (Feb. 21, 2009) – The Northwestern College women's basketball team won its third straight game on Saturday to close out the regular season with a 71-40 win over Presentation College. Following the day's games, the Eagles and Saints will have a rematch on Tuesday in the first round of the UMAC conference tournament.

The game's initial minutes featured a back-and-forth battle, as the lead changed seven times in the first half. After a 14-13 Presentation lead at the 11:57 mark, Northwestern went on a 10-2 run over the next nine minutes to lead 23-16 before closing out the half with an 11-point lead.

The Eagles made 45 percent of their attempts from the field, while holding Presentation to 24 percent. Northwestern nearly doubled their opponents on the boards, grabbing 56 rebounds, compared to the Saints' 31. Head coach Linda Schuck's team turned in 21 assists – eight of which from Katie DeWitt (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial), while only committing 13 mistakes.

Sara Gregersen scored 13 points to lead Presentation (8-17, 5-9 UMAC), who slipped into the UMAC tournament as the No. 6 seed.

Northwestern (13-12, 11-3 UMAC) will get a quick practice in on Monday before hosting the Saints again on Tuesday evening. Presentation will be the team that really has a quick turnaround, as they will travel home to Aberdeen, S.D. tonight before returning to St. Paul on Monday or Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 in the Ericksen Center on Tuesday.
