Box Score

MINNETONKA, Minn. -- Despite losing a 2-1 double overtime final to Crown College on Saturday afternoon, the Northwestern College men's soccer team retains its third spot in the UMAC standings due to the league's tiebreaker system.

Sam Mann (Woodbury, Minn./St. Paul Central) (St. Paul, Minn./Central) scored the Eagles' only goal of the game, giving Northwestern an early 1-0 lead just before halftime at the 43:33 mark. Mark Matson tied the game at 1-1 for Crown in the 69th minute before the 90 minute whistle came marking the end of regulation.

With less than a minute to go in the second 10-minute overtime period, Crown's Kyle Brubaker scored to give his team the 2-1 victory.

Northwestern more than doubled Crown's 13 shots, posting 30 of its own in the game. The Eagles also held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Northwestern and Crown, both of whom finish the regular season with a 7-6-1 UMAC record, will be the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds in Tuesday's first round of the conference tournament. The Eagles will play at second-seeded St. Scholastica, with their game beginning at 11:30 a.m.
