Men's Soccer shuts out Crown

Box Score

ROSEVILLE, Minn. -- The Northwestern College men's soccer team beat Crown College 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon in the first of two games between the two teams this week. Jonathan Blatchley (Ham Lake, MN/St. Francis High School) (Ham Lake, Minn./St. Francis), Sam Mann (St. Paul, Minn./Central) (St. Paul, Minn./Central) and Michael Bliss (Isanti, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) (Isanti, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) all scored goals as the Eagles moved into third place in the UMAC standings.

Blatchley put Northwestern on the board early, as he scored off a Jared Huston (Corcoran, Minn./Heritage Christian Academy) (Corcoran, Minn./Heritage Christian Academy) pass just 2:12 into the game. After a 1-0 Eagles lead at halftime, Mann was the recipient of a Jeremy Stiner (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) head flick after a throw in, as the freshman found the back of the net in the 55th minute. Bliss added NWC's second insurance goal in the 83rd minute while Huston notched his second assist of the game to account for the 3-0 final.

Danny King (Willmar, MN/Willmar High School) (Willmar, Minn./Willmar) saved two Crown shots to get the win for Northwestern.

Northwestern (7-11-1, 7-5-1) dominated the shots category, tallying 19 compared to just three for Crown (7-10-1, 7-5-1 UMAC).

The Eagles and Storm will play each other again in four days, only Saturday's game will be on Crown's home turf in St. Bonifacius, Minn. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
