ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- Northwestern College used two first-half goals to shut out Bethany Lutheran College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Mounds View High School. Playing on an alternate home field didn't affect the Eagles, as they held the Vikings to just one shot while posting 13 of their own.
Jonathan Blatchley (Ham Lake, MN/St. Francis High School) (Ham Lake, Minn./St. Francis) scored the game's first goal, taking a pass from
Alex Reyes (Guatemala City/Christian Academy) in the box to score on Bethany's William Tatge in the 18th minute.
Sam Mann (St. Paul, Minn./Central) (St. Paul, Minn./Central) added the first of NWC's two insurance goals, scoring his eighth goal of the season at the 35:58 mark to put Northwestern up 2-0.
After halftime,
Alex Reyes (Guatemala City/Christian Academy) (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Christian Academy) tallied another Eagles goal, this one at the 55:29 point of the game.
Dan Schumann (Ham Lake, Minn./Concordia Academy) (Ham Lake, Minn./Concordia Academy) and
Jeremy Stiner (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) were responsible for assists on Reyes' goal.
Northwestern's

The Eagles (6-11-1, 6-5-1 UMAC) will take a few days off before returning to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 27 when they host Crown College. That game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
