MORRIS, Minn. -- Despite losing the total yardage battle and possessing the ball for less than 20 minutes, the Northwestern College football team capitalized on turnovers to defeat the University of Minnesota, Morris 46-16. The Eagles took advantage of five Cougar turnovers while scoring six touchdowns.
Kyle Thomforde (Northfield, Minn./Northfield High School) (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) caught six passes for 149 yards and
Ryan Long (Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato) (Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato) rushed 11 times for 131 yards as the Eagles poasted 344 yards of total offense. Since losing to Martin Luther two weeks ago, the Eagles have averaged over 50 points in their last two games.
Zach Tarter (Crystal Falls, Mich./Forest Park High School) (Crystal Falls, Mich./Forest Park) completed nine passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Tarter's 78-yard scoring connection with Thomforde with 1:49 to play in the second quarter gave the Eagles a 15-0 lead.
Matt Kramer (Stratford, Wis./Stratford High School) (Stratford, Wis./Stratford) led the team with 11 tackles, two tackles for a loss and a sack, while
